hamlin township parks
The Hamlin Township Parks board was formed in 2006 for the purpose of implementing recreational park goals set forth in our 1996 Master Plan and reinforced in the Master Plan update of 2007. To volunteer for the parks, contact the Township Office.
Smithville Park is located on Smithville Road at the Grand River. This park consists of fishing, canoeing, and picnic facilities. Historically, Smithville is the site of an artesian well that has flowed continuously for over 175 years. It is one of 14 wells known as mineral wells.
Hamlin Park is a 46 acre park located adjacent to the Township Hall and is a work in progress. This park currently has a pavilion with picnic facilities. Thanks to a grant from Eaton County Parks and a donation from the Eaton Rapids Soccer Club, we have completed a soccer field and parking area. The Park will host the U6 soccer games for the Eaton Rapids Soccer Club. Thanks to a DNR Land Grant and a donation from Fritz Properties, 25 acres boasting four ecosystems was added in 2012. This includes a 3,000 foot walkable nature trail and a foot bridge built by local Eagle Scout, Geoffrey Bessette.
